Upgrading Tanks
Lid Sections with Insulation
Sarena lid sections are purpose designed to cover existing installations. Standard sections are 610mm wide panels for easy access into restricted tank locations. Each section interlinks with a closed-cell gasket.
When ordering please state the construction and dimensions of the tank to be covered so that correct fixings can be chosen and each lid, once assembled, will cover the exact size. Insulation can be encapsulated within the actual laminate, to prevent moisture being absorbed.
To gain entry to the tank, inspection and/or access hatches may be located to customers' individual requirements and, if required, a ball valve box can be moulded into the lid. This will enable the tank to incorporate a type 'AB' air gap or raise the water level to increase the actual storage capacity.
All materials used in the construction of lids have been tested and approved by WRAS for use with wholesome water.
Fittings
All installations must incorporate a screened vent in the lid together with a screened overflow/warning pipe. Tanks holding over 1000 litres of actual water should have a separate warning overflow fitted, sized according to the incoming mains supply.

Insulation
When upgrading installations consideration should be given to the insulation of the tank walls.
Insulating jackets consist of 60mm thick glass fibre wool encapsulated within a plastic sleeve, supplied with ties to enable the jacket to be secured to the tank. The 'U' value achieved with this option is 0.85w/m². As an alternative, foil faced polyurethane foam is available in sheet form or cut to size, complete with high tack adhesive silver tape to secure insulation to the tank.
Internal and External Ladders
Sarena ladders are manufactured in stainless steel to complete the package and offer maintenance staff a safe product to use when entering tanks.
